Thank you for posting this piece. I’m one of the writers for Gilbert Guide, a resource for long-term care and everything senior-related. A few months back, I wrote a blog that lists some tips for fall-proofing one’s home—aside from taking vitamin D, that is. Here is an excerpt from the blog:

“According to a new report by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 33 percent of Americans over 65 experience at least one serious fall each year. The same study reports that deadly falls for seniors increased by more than 55 percent between 1993 and 2003, establishing falling as the leading cause of death among the elderly.”

Most falls are preventable, and it just takes a little foresight to make one’s environment a little safer.

It was a great opportunity, reading the article ”Fall Prevention 101” and as it was mentioned that Yoga is quite effective in preventing falls, i fully agree with you. Actually, this centuries old practice is once again making its presence felt and for that we must be indebted to people like Swami Ram Dev,who are doing a lot to rejuvenate this wonderful way of life.
